INTRODUCING ETERNAL IMPACT NAMED FUNDS

With an initial gift of $3,600, you can establish a named loan fund to honor or celebrate a loved one or milestone. Your contribution will provide invaluable support to our community, continuing to make a difference for years to come. You can continue to add to the fund at any time, and you can invite your family and friends to do so.

2011-2024: The B’NAI MITZVAH year marks a significant milestone in our community. Typically, B’nai Mitzvah gifts help young individuals start their savings accounts, laying the foundation for their financial future. This year, we ask you to extend this tradition of generosity and foresight by contributing to the Hebrew Free Loan of Austin.

Jordan

“It allowed for the possibility of me attending graduate school. Without their help, I wouldn’t be able to take the courses I need! The organization is amazing and I definitely recommend to anyone who just needs a little financial help in whatever goal they are trying to pursue.”

Sammy Pappert

“I borrowed because I am a proud member of my community. Growing up in Austin, I have had many Jewish community members assist me in becoming the person I am today. I am proud to say that I have used their support through mentorship and HFLA to achieve my goals.”

Elise Hueter

“One aspect that surprised me during the application process was the abundance of support and genuine community behind this organization. My Loan Leader shared a similar story to mine regarding her need for a loan and it inspired and encouraged me to not only continue my educational journey, but reminded me that it’s okay to ask for help when needed.”

Jonathan Cohen

“During the 2019 government shutdown, as a federal employee, the uncertainty of no pay for a month was incredibly stressful for my family. Relying on my salary for everything, I borrowed an interest-free loan from HFLA, lifting a huge financial burden and allowing me to focus on my job without money worries.”

Melissa Drexler

“I used the loan to pay for a portion of my the summer semester for the Executive Master’s in Public Leadership. The loan had a huge impact on me being able to start in the program without delay in waiting on funding. Don’t hesitate to apply today. Every little bit counts. The fact that the loan is interest free is even more amazing. I am so thankful to all the philanthropists who contribute to our community to make the HFLA possible. I anticipate that I will be able to contribute the the HFLA in the future!”

Sheva Hart

“I borrowed money from HFLA because I needed help with closing costs on a home purchase. The process was seamless and the help was immeasurable. My gratitude to HFLA is ongoing.”

Kristin Fine

“I used Hebrew Free Loan in a big transition period in my life; just had a baby, was switching careers. [It was a] really crazy time. I have thought over the years that as other big financial decisions come up in my life, [I am grateful for the] ability to reach out to someone who is financially literate. The added layer of comfort knowing that Jews were doing it was really nice.”

Tom Rosen

“It is not an exaggeration to say that the loan sustained the [bagel] business. There are a lot of predatory loans out there for small business owners that have high interest. HFLA allowed me to make the best decision for my business before I got desperate and considered something that I normally wouldn’t.”

Heidi & Robbie Kandalis

“It’s beautiful that the community is there to help when you are down. HFLA has been there for us again and again to help and support us in so many ways. I’ve sent others in the community who are struggling through job loss or health issues to HFLA, it’s been a life saver.”

Ashley and Noah

“It was clear that HFLA was a different organization that actually wanted to help people. Following the first interview I sent in a business proposal, and within 3 weeks we had a $20,000 interest-free loan.”

Ledeen Family

“HFLA is absolutely great to work with. They are an incredible resource there for our community. The best part was that we didn’t need to feel bad about it, and we set up a payment plan to pay it back in under 2 years.”

Esther Teller

“I borrowed from HFLA because I’m a single senior mom living on Social Security and sending my daughter through college. “I tell all who will listen about the life-affirming assistance I have received from HFLA.”

Michaela

“Despite my circumstances, HFLA treated me with respect and patience, immediately. That was what was so astounding. I received a response the day after I filled out my application. After doing paperwork and a having an interview, my loan came right away.”
